Angela Sullivan, star of S. Durham's The Powers ~ Interview & Giveaway

Welcome, Angela ~ we at Ravencraft’s Romance Realm love having interviews with the MC Stars of romance novels. Angela Sullivan is an ER nurse (and much more) in S. Durham’s The Powers.

Let’s jump right in and get to the good stuff…

KDR ~ Angela, where is it that you work as an ER nurse? Tell us something about your job ~ likes/dislikes.

Angela: I work at an urban community hospital in downtown Portland Oregon, and like all ERs this one is busy, but aside from the ‘fortunate to be insured’ crowd, we get more and more patients walking off the street. Transients, street kids, all walks of life suffering from addictions, mental illness, you name it, coming through our doors. The worse part of my job is coming face to face with the cruel abuse humans bestow on each other and their children...the daily tragedies that you don’t hear about in the news.

What I love about my job is when I can actually make a difference in someone’s life, prolong it, or just plain save it.

KDR ~ Angela, you sound like an angel saving anyone and everyone who comes through the ER doors. Pretty serious job.

Would you want to share a bit about your abilities (other than your medical training) ~ what was the first time you discovered something was different about you?

Angela: I’d been working a lot of overtime, and these strange dreams started plaguing me on a nightly basis. I passed it off like we all do when something out of our realm of understanding enters our lives, but when Emanuel, a homeless man with a history of mental illness, came into our ER one night, grabbed my arm and said ‘the dark angel is coming for you’...well let’s just say I was a little freaked out. Then things got really uneasy when a patient of mine was found dead in the Willamette River. A patient I’d dreamed about the very night before! Then there were all the physical changes...you know, increasing physical strength, telepathy, eating a whole lot more than normal.

KDR ~ Wow, that is a lot of changes…you must have felt a bit like Wonder Woman.

Who’s the one person that understands you most ~ the one you’ve known the longest and trust? Tell us a little about this person.

Angela: My brother David is a Portland homicide detective, and he is fairly protective of me since my divorce six years ago. (My ex turned out to have a very dark side.) Also David and I carefully avoid talking of our childhood, as our parents died when we were young, the circumstances difficult at best.

KDR ~ I thought you might name someone else on the above questions…hmmm.

So, what everyone who has read the blurb is waiting for…who is Camael? Can you share the first time you saw him?

Angela: Well I had just come out of the city morgue (which happens to be in the basement of St. Andrew’s hospital where I work)...What was I doing in the morgue you ask? Well you will have to read the book to find out *grin*. Anyhow, back to coming out of the morgue—I was getting some badly needed fresh air when a stirring of the breeze kicked up and I looked to the sidewalk. There standing a mere fifty yards from me was a tall man...I can’t even tell you what he was wearing, so distracted by his eyes I was. Those flint grays literally bore into me, and took my proverbial breath away! Then psst he was gone! I would later learn all about the militant angel, Camael, and maybe wish he’d come for someone else...but hey, you deal with the hand you are dealt in this life...or you die.

KDR ~ Oh, man…now you’ve got me hanging on here, wanting to know exactly why you were in the morgue.

What is it you would like to share most about The Powers so people understand what an awesome story it is?

Angela: The Powers is a story of good and evil, it’s about the angels and demons, rarely seen, who carry on the endless battle over us fragile humans on a millisecond to millisecond basis. An interesting cast of support characters adds richness to my tale, but more than that, The Powers is a deeply felt love story, which will draw you in, and will hopefully have you begging for more.

KDR ~ I’m looking forward to meeting all of your unique friends and family.

How was it to work with S. Durham ~ did she get the details of your story down without a glitch?

Angela: Sara is a perfectionist and a stickler for details, but she’s also an emotional b**ch, sometimes to the point of bringing me to my knees, literally, (what with all that ‘all too real’ spiritual pain she made me relive.) All in all we worked well together, and the story had to be told, because it is only the beginning...you know:)

KDR ~ Only the beginning…so this means we’ve got another book coming soon…as in this is the first of a series. Yummy!

Okay Angela ~ we have a Quickie Quiz so your fans can learn a bit about the MDC Star of The Powers…answer truthfully…

What’s your favorite drink?

Angela: Myer’s Jamaican Rum, but unfortunately with my new powers, I don’t even catch a tiny buzz from the stuff. Oh you meant day time drink...coffee definitely.

Where do you call home?

Angela: Portland, Oregon, but more recently the warring fields.

What do you do for fun?

Angela: I’m really into fencing these days...

Your best place to eat?

Angela: A little Italian eatery a few blocks from St. Andrews

Place you want to go that you’ve never been before?

Angela: Probably the tenth heaven, but since it seems to be nowhere at the moment, guess I’ll have to wait for upcoming sequels-grin

Favorite season of the year?

Angela: Fall, I love the burgeoning chill and crispness in the air, the smell of fallen leaves, and Halloween.

Any certain someone in your life right now?

Angela: *Sigh* A warrior angel who despite his stubborn nature, has learned how to deal with me, and my newfound powers.

I love character interviews; they are a great read. I really enjoyed this post.

Now to answer the question...I think I have encountered humans who had either angelic or demonic characteristics. I felt some had good influences in my life (angels) and others had bad influences in my life (demons).

Does that make sense??

Happy New Year to All!

Thanks,

Hi Angela!
I just want to thank you first for this awesome giveaway opportunity!
As for your question, I know for sure that an angel as has saved the lives of me and my two sons. As we were travelling to my mother's when they were ages 3 yrs and 1 yrs, I'd had an allergy attack and had taken some over the counter allergy medicine (this was 20 years ago - I had no idea there was anything else) and before I knew it, I was falling dozing at the wheel. I woke to find me driving the car in the oncoming lane with a semi truck coming at us, holding on to his horn for dear life-he had nowhere to go. A rock cliff wall on his side of the wall, the river over on my side, where I should have been. My car was literally picked up in the air and lifted to the proper side of the highway, out of danger. I'd had no time to move the steering wheel or even say a prayer. It was amazing!
I've never drove again when taking over the counter medicines, and I've never forgotten to thank the Lord for the guardian angel that saved me and my boys that day!

Blessings to you in 2012!

Hi Tracey! Angela stepped out of the room for a moment and I saw you were here, so thought I'd chat for a sec. It totally makes sense that you would have angel and demon influences. Being ultra sensitive to negative and positive energy...I can feel it as soon as I enter a room. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Gena,
Wow, what an awesome story! It brought a tear to my eye because I could imagine that time slowed and the oncoming peril must have consumed you into a paralysis state. I most definitely believe in Angels, and you certainly had one watching out for you that day.

Hi Sara! I LOVED The Powers, as you know. =) Can't wait to read Lycan Moon. It's on my list. I don't know if I've had any demonic/angelic experiences, but I have certainly crossed paths with a ghost, in my opinion. I blogged about it once! Here's a link if you guys want to take a peek. :) http://bit.ly/u4xSpo

I cant wait to read this one. What a great interview. Thanks for sharing Angela with us!! Happy new year.

Sorry I'm late to the party, there was this little thing called the day job-LOL.

Tracy, that totally makes sense! Aside from angels saving my butt a few times, I believe I've known only a very few people (thankfully)who I can say have evil or demons orchestrating their lives. I have known so many 'angels' from all walks of life, that I'm sold that they are the liason between us and God, or higher power or whatever you believe! Thank you so much for stopping by! And happy New Year!

Cheers, Sara

Gena, that is truly an amazing story! The way you described it gave me chills... Yes your angel was definitely with you and your children that day! I'm so glad you came by and shared your story here! It's things such as these that make the little stuff, just that...little.

Cheers and Blessings to you and yours!

Great seeing you ladies here.

In answer to the question, I don't believe that I have been touched by, or ever felt the presence of an angel or demon in my life. I think it might be kinda cool, but no.

Sara,
Again I'd like to echo the whispers of my fellow bloggers and readers, your book sounds hauntingly delicious. I am a sucker for the paranormal, as much as I love hunks and complicated types of any species...Your story is wonderful.
Went to Lewis & Clark and spent some of my early writing days many (too many) years ago now in coffee houses to guitar music. This story goes well with the Portland waterways, landscape and all the rain.
I'm heading over to get your book. Thanks for bringing me such a creative piece today...Love it!

Danielle,
